TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- ELIGIBILITY: The Monkey and River Hackathon ("the Hackathon") is open to all individuals who are over the age of 18 and have an interest in Computer Science and Informatics. The Hackathon is void where prohibited by law. Employees of Monkey and River, their immediate families, and household members are not eligible to participate.
- REGISTRATION: Participants must register online through the official website of the Hackathon. Participants are required to provide their full name, email address, contact number, and other relevant details. All registration details must be accurate, and any incorrect or incomplete information may result in disqualification.
- HACKATHON STRUCTURE: The Hackathon will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be an online hackathon with multiple sub-phase submissions and deadlines. The top 5 teams after judging phase 1 will progress to phase 2, which will be an on-site, in-person hackathon at Monkey and River in Centurion, South Africa.
- TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, AND CATERING: All costs related to the travel, accommodation, and catering for phase 2 will be for the participant's account. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements, including visas, if required.
- TOOLS OF THE TRADE: All participants should bring their own tools of the trade, including laptops and other necessary equipment.
- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: Participants will retain ownership of any intellectual property they create during the Hackathon. However, Monkey and River reserves the right to use and share the participants' work for promotional and marketing purposes.
- LIABILITY: Participants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Monkey and River, its affiliates, and their respective employees, agents, and representatives from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in the Hackathon, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage.
- JUDGING: All decisions of the judges are final and binding. Monkey and River reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates these terms and conditions or who engages in any fraudulent activity.
- PRIZES: The winners of phase 2 will receive the cash prize and might be contacted to offer them a position in the 2025 internship program. The cash prize and other merchandise are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other goods or services.
- PRIVACY: All personal information collected from participants will be used solely for the purpose of the Hackathon and will not be shared with third parties.
- MODIFICATION: Monkey and River reserves the right to modify or cancel the Hackathon at any time for any reason.
- GOVERNING LAW: These terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
By participating in the Monkey and River Hackathon, all participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
